Apple Cake recipe


INGREDIENTS

1/4 c. margarine, softened
2/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. flour, all purpose
1 c. flour, whole wheat
1 ts. baking soda
1 ts. baking powder
1 Tb. cinnamon, fresh ground if you can
1/2 ts. salt
2 1/2 c. apples, cored and finely chopped (2 medium)
Topping:
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 ts. cinnamon
2 Tb. nuts, chopped


METHOD

In large bowl, beat margarine and sugar. Beat in buttermilk. Add flours, soda, powder, cinnamon, salt and apples and mix to combine.
Spread evenly into sprayed 8 or 9 inch square pan.
Bake at 350* for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Makes 12 servings.
