Baked Round Steak with Onions and Tomatoes recipe |
INGREDIENTS |
2-1/2 lb. round steak
1 ts. salt
1/4 ts. pepper
1/2 ts. garlic powder
3 Tb. flour
2 Tb. olive oil
2 c. onions, thinly sliced
3 tomatoes, large, peeled and sliced
1/3 c. beef broth |

METHOD |
In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Pound mixture into steak on both sides.
In a large frying pan with hot oil, brown steak quickly on both sides.
Put steak into a casserole dish.
Makes 6 servings.
Brown onions in same frying pan, using a little more oil if needed.
Spread onions over steak.
Bake covered at 350* for 1 hour.
Add tomatoes and broth and bake another 30-45 minutes, until meat is tender.
Leave cover off casserole dish for the last 20 minutes of cooking.
Adjust seasoning and thickness of gravy.
