Basic Tomato Sauce recipe |
INGREDIENTS |
2 Tb. oil
3/4 c. onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
28 oz. can stewed tomatoes
5-1/2 oz. can tomato paste
bay leaf
1/2 ts. basil
1/2 ts. oregano
1/4 ts. marjoram
1/4 ts. thyme
1/4 ts. rosemary
1/2 ts. salt
1/8 ts. pepper
1-1/2 ts. sugar |

METHOD |
In a large sauce pan, heat oil over medium heat.
Add onion and garlic and saute until soft.
Add remaining ingredients, breaking up large pieces of tomato.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 1-1/2-2 hours or until sauce reduces to 3 cups.
Remove bay leaf. |
