Basic bread recipe


INGREDIENTS

1-1/3 c. very warm water
1 rounded Tb. sugar
2 ts. salt
2 Tb.. metled butter
4-1/2 c. flour
1 ts. active dry yeast


METHOD

In large bowl dissolve sugar in warm water.
Test water temperature, when about 100* (baby bottle warm) add the yeast stirring gently.
After about 5 to 10 minutes bubbles should form.
Add remaining ingredients, kneading by hand once stiff dough forms.
Form into ball and let rise at room temperature for about an hour.
Punch dough, form into loaf/cigar shape and place in lightly greased bread pan.
Let rise about another hour.
Bake at 375* for about 30 minutes or until crust in dark golden brown.
Remove and let cool in bread pan for about 10 minutes before removing to cool on wire rack.

Slice and enjoy.
