Caramel Shortbread Bars recipe |
INGREDIENTS |
2/3 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1-1/4 c. flour, all purpose
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed
2 Tb. light corn syrup
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
1-1/4 c. chocolate chips |

METHOD |
In medium bowl, mix together 2/3 cup butter, white sugar and flour until evenly crumbly. Press into 9 x 9 pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
In medium sauce pan, combine 1/2 cup butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and milk.
Bring to a boil and continue to boil for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and beat vigorously with a wooden spoon for about 3 minutes.
Pour over baked crust(warm or cool).
Cool until it begins to firm.
Melt chocolate and pour over caramel layer.
Cover layer completely.
Chill and cut into squares.
Makes 48 small squares(it is rich). |
