Cheddar Cheese Scones recipe


INGREDIENTS

2 c. flour
4 ts. baking powder
1/4 ts. salt
1/4 c. butter, cold
1 c. cheddar cheese, old, shredded
1 c. milk
1/2 c. cheddar cheese, old, shredded (optional)


METHOD

Preheat oven to 425*.
In a large bowl, sift together the first 3 ingredients.
With a pastry cutter or two knives, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
Stir in cheese.
Pour in milk; stir with fork until mixture becomes sticky dough.
Put dough onto lightly floured surface and shape into 3/4 inch thick square.
Cut into two inch shapes and place on sheet, touching one another.
Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese if using.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
Makes 10-12 scones.
