Cherry Almond Bars recipe |
INGREDIENTS |
1/2 c. butter, unsalted, room temp.
1/4. c. icing sugar
dash of almond extract
1/2 ts. vanilla
1-1/4 c. flour, all purpose
2 Tb. almond, ground
1/4 ts. salt
Filling:
1 c. cherry jam
1/2 ts. cinnamon
2 Tb. sugar
1 Tb. milk
1 c. almond, sliced |

METHOD |
Preheat oven to 350*
Lightly spray an 8 x 8 pan with parchment paper.
Cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
Add both extracts and blend in.
In a separate bowl, blend flour, ground almonds and salt.
Add to butter mixture and blend(will be crumbly).
Press crust into pan and bake for 18-20 minutes, until just brown around the edges.
Filling: Stir together cherry jam and cinnamon and spread over surface of cooled crust.
Heat together sugar and milk until sugar is dissolved.
Pour over sliced almonds and toss to coat.
Spread almonds over cherry filling.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, until almonds turn golden brown.
Cool completely before slicing. |
