English Muffin Loaves recipe |
INGREDIENTS |
2 pkg. active dry yeast (1/4 oz.)
6 c. flour, all purpose
1 Tb. sugar
2 c. milk
1/4 ts. baking soda
1/2 c. water
1 ts. salt
2 Tb. cornmeal |

METHOD |
In a small sauce pan, heat the milk and water until warm, but not steaming.
If it is too hot, the yeast will not be effective.
In a large bowl, combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
Add warm milk and water and beat well.
Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
Makes 24 servings.
Spoon into two 9 x 5 loaf pans that have been greased and dusted with cornmeal.
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
Bake at 400* for 25 minutes.
Remove from pans immediately and let cool. |
