French Onion Soup recipe


INGREDIENTS

6 c. onions, diced
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 c. butter
6 cans beef broth (10 oz.)
1 1/2 ts. Worcestershire sauce
3/4 ts. salt
1 bay leaf
toasted French bread slices
parmesan cheese, fresh grated if you can


METHOD

Melt butter in fry pan and saute onion and garlic until tender.
Transfer to pot.
Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt and bay leaves.
Cover and simmer for 2-3 hours.
When done, remove bay leaves and ladle into bowls.
Top each serving with bread and parmesan.

Note: This can be made in a crockpot as well.
Cook and prepare the same using the low temperature for 5-7 hours or on Auto for 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours.
